Julie Jones – VIP Fundraiser Spotlight

Julie with her husband Ken Jones.

What is your favorite Komen memory?

My favorite Komen memory is walking with other survivors at the beginning of the walk. I had just finished treatments 3 months prior and the emotions were overwhelming.

Why is Komen important to you?

I do not want any more women to have to go through what I and my friends have gone through. I want a cure found so that other women/men and their families do not have to live with the “what if’s” the rest of their lives. The research Komen does will get us there.

What is your biggest fundraising tip?

Keeping the event in front of people and making it personal. When you tell YOUR story I think people feel more of a connection.

How are you MORE THAN PINK?

I’m a survivor but I don’t want that to be my only identity… it’s about living life to the fullest regardless of a diagnosis.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?

I would want to be able to travel back and forth through time… go back to things I have done and do again, or do them differently as well as go ahead and see what is on the horizon and depending what it is, make adjustments in the present to live a better life.

How long have you been a survivor?

1 year.
